My child really wants lessons, but I'm not sure if they will like piano.  What should I do?

Sign your child up for a one week Summer Piano Camp and find out if they are really ready to commit!

A keyboard or piano at home is good, but not required.

My Child has had zero lessons or less than 2 months of lessons, what lessons should I sign them up for?

Sign them up for the School Year Group Piano Class.  A piano or keyboard at home is required.

My child has had some piano lessons.  What should I sign them up for?

Sign them up for the School Year Group Piano Class.

I will meet you and your child to assess which class to place them in.

A piano or keyboard at home is required.

Do you teach adult lessons?

Yes! You can sign up for Piano Camp and Group Lessons as an adult.

You will be in class with other adults or possibly older teens.

What age does my child need to be to sign up for lessons?

Currently, I enroll students age 5 and older.

What do lessons cost each month? Do I have to buy books separately?

The tuition for Group Piano Class for 2023-2024 is $540. The cost of books is included in your tuition.

You have three options to pay tuition:

--one lump sum due in August

--two semester payments of $270 due August and January,

--ten monthly payments of $54 due the first of each month August-May.

What if I miss a lesson, do I get a discount on my tuition?

No discounts are given (except in extreme circumstances.)  Here is how it works:

Tuition covers the cost of 27 lessons.  I schedule 32 lessons for you.

The three free lessons serve as make-up lessons in case you have to miss class for any reason.

If you have perfect attendance, these lessons are bonus lessons!

Do I still have to pay tuition if I have less than 3 lessons in a month?

Yes. Tuition is the same each month regardless of how many lessons you have scheduled that month.

Depending on what day of the week your lessons are, you may have 5 lessons in one month and only 2 in another month.

You may not have any lessons in August. The cost of tuition is spread evenly over 10 months, this keeps billing simple!

I can't make it to my lesson this week, can I schedule a make-up lesson?

Due to the nature of group lessons, and the fullness of my schedule, it is unlikely that a make-up lesson can be scheduled. This is why there are 3 extra lessons scheduled in the calendar.

What Kind of Keyboard do I need?

For beginning students, the minimum keyboard must have

    61 full-size keys

    a music rack

a jack for a sustain pedal (pedal can be purchased separately as long as the keyboard has a jack)

very nice, but optional:
      velocity sensitive keys

      sustain pedal

You can expect to pay $100-200 for the minimum keyboard.  I like this Yamaha YPT 260, but there are many adequate keyboards. .

This Yamaha P45 is the keyboard students use in my studio. (links are to be helpful only, I am not a Yamaha affiliate.)

An in-tune upright piano is the best option, as your student needs to build up finger strength.  A small spinet piano or a keyboard will not help them build adequate finger strength.
